Sharkey Hill Community Based Family Support

Welcome to Sharkey Hill Community Based Family Support Service. This service is for parents who are having difficulty in managing their child’s/children’s behaviours, families experiencing communications and relationship difficulties, and parents experiencing crisis which impact on their children.

The aim of the service is to work in partnership with families, to develop individualised programmes (in–home family work) to meet their needs. These programmes are designed to improve the capacity of families to provide a nurturing and safe environment for their children. The service is inclusive families and children are treated with respect at all times. The service works in accordance with Children’s First Guidelines / legislation.

In addition to the In – home family work the community based family support service also provides the following:

  • Brief Intervention Service / Drop In appointments – some families may only require a once – off appointment to gather information / advice.
  • Common Sense Parenting – we offer parenting courses in the community for parents of children between the ages of 6 – 16yrs.
  • Meitheals – we provide family support through the Meitheal model. This approach is community based, requested by the parent. It involves planned meetings to bring together services with the family and making an action plan to meet the family needs.
